Vikings Show Improvement at Penn State Beaver

Villa records three shots on net as they battle closely on the road

MONACA, PA - They say improvement is a process.  The Villa Maria College women's soccer team started that process on Saturday afternoon, battling for 90 minutes against United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) foe Penn State Beaver on Saturday afternoon.  Villa recorded three shots on net and entered the half down 1-0, but ultimately fell to the Lady Lions 5-0.

Sophomore Megan Marafino recorded two shots, both hitting the net, while freshman Naomi Demler recorded a shot on goal of her own.  Villa hung with Beaver for the opening 45 minutes, trailing 1-0 at the break. The 59th minute is where Beaver began to create some separation and pull away.

Villa senior Shaquana Owens stopped 18 of 23 shots in her first start in goal of the season.

The Vikings are back in action on this Thursday when they travel down Interstate-90 for a matchup with Mercyhurst North East at 4 p.m.
