BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College women's soccer team saw their season come to end on Sunday against Lorain County Community College and the 2019 season was filled with upside and potential leading into the offseason.
One of the bright spots of the was
Megan Marafino. The junior midfielder was impactful on both sides of the field, but offensively she was the go-to Viking. On the season, Marafino collected 19 shots, nine of which were on goal and in an impressive 6-3 win, she scored five goals and assist on the sixth. In goal, Jordan Wright put up big numbers in her first year as goalkeeper as she had over 65 saves in her starts. Her saves had her in the top-5 in the USCAA at points during the season.
Samantha Levreault and
Josephine Capen joined Marafino as returners and were impactful both on defense and in the midfield.
Estella Anderson,
Precious Adamson,
Bianca Brown,
Hannah Day,
Bianca Brown and Wright, were dual athletes, playing soccer in the fall as they prepared for the women's basketball season.
"I am very proud of our team," stated head coach
Amanda Janosky, "we faced some adversity, but we stood by each other and continued to grow not just as individuals but as a team as well."
