SYRACUSE, NY - Freshman
Nina Cray (Wheatland, IA/Calamus-Wheatland) made her first career start in goal for the Villa Maria College Vikings and was fantastic, making 26 saves in a 6-0 loss to SUNY Envrionmental Science and Forestry on Saturday afternoon.
In their first road game of the season, the Vikings (0-4) - who were shorthanded, playing with just nine players - stayed tough and strong against the Mighty Oaks (5-1-1) who picked up their fifth win of the season.
"Nina really did a great job of stepping into a new role and keeping us in the game," Villa head coach
Amanda Janosky said. Â "We are going to work and continue to get better and I know the girls are going to keep doing their best to stay positive and keep improving."
The Vikings next play on Saturday, October 8th at 2 p.m. when they hit the road to play Alfred State.
