BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College men's soccer team begin to wrap up their 2021 season with their final home game. They hosted Bryant and Stratton Rochester on Monday in a chilly fall afternoon. After 90 minutes of intense soccer, the Vikings fell by a final score of 4-1 to bring their record to 0-12-1, while the Bobcats shift to 3-7 in their programs debut season.
 
The game was a defensive battle in the opening 20 minutes of play with neither team having a clear opportunity to knock in the opening goal of the match. In the 22nd minute, the Bobcats took a 1-0 lead off a corner-kick. They once again used a corner in the 37th minute to increase their advantage to 2-0 as they headed into halftime. The Vikings were able to cut into the deficit in the second half after 
Zak Wilson floated a ball from outside the box, over the opposing goalie in the 65th minute. The Bobcats were able to hold-off the Vikings and score two more goals in a three-minute stretch to secure a 4-1 win.
 
Roman Bryant and 
Marcus Ortega, both had two shots, while Wilson, 
Ignacio Del Callejo and 
Patricio Vilchis all took opportunities to shoot as well. The Vikings will play their season finale on Wednesday, October 20 when they travel to D'Youville college for a rematch at 7 p.m.
