BUFFALO, NY -- The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced its 2026 All-American and All-Academic award winners for women's basketball in a ceremony at Buffalo RiverWorks.
The announcement comes as the USCAA Small School Division 1 Championships are underway with Villa Maria College serving as one of the National Championship host schools at the Villa Athletic Center March 1-7.
Five members of the Villa women's basketball team were recognized as USCAA Division 1 National All-Academic that included four seniors and one junior.
Seniors selected for National All-Academic included
Krismelis Melo,
Mia Special,
Alyssa Saavedra and Kiara (Kiki) Mercado. The lone Villa junior to achieve National All-Academic status was
Promise Myers.
"I am incredibly proud of this group of dedicated student athletes. Setting the standard inside the classroom and on the court. They've worked hard to achieve this milestone and continue to embody what it means to be a student athlete here at Villa," Villa Maria College head women's basketball coach and student life coordinator
Serena Sordetto said.
