COLUMBIA, MD. – The Villa Maria women's flag football team defeated Kean University (Union, NJ), 25-6, in the first game of a doubleheader of the National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) Maryland Championship Tournament on March 29 at Howard Community College.

- The Vikings scored on its first four possessions in the first half and then relied on its defense for its sixth-consecutive win.
- Scarlett Melancon factored in on all four Viking scores.
- Melancon threw Villa's opening score to Keiliany Diaz for a 7-0 lead.
- Melancon then rushed for the next Viking score for a 13-0 lead.
- The Cougars got on the board with a long pass to cut Villa's lead to 13-6.
- Melacon got her final two touchdowns receiving in the first half's final two minutes.
- Brianna Shalinsky finished with a pair of TD passes.
- Gianna Marciano led the defense with three stops.
- Diaz finished with an interception and pass breakup for the Vikings.
- The Vikings also got stops from Promise Myers, Lily Runkel and Alana Cornish.
