BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College men's soccer team wrapped up their final game of the 2019 season on Saturday and are excited to have completed the first full campaign since 2016. Head Coach,
Mark Evertt, did a fantastic job fielding a team that showed improvement every game and have a bright future ahead of them.
The season opened up with an immediate highlight with
Wit Supprapipatp scoring the first goal in the programs history. The sophomore forward was a consistent threat throughout the year, recording over 15 shots and almost half of them being on goal.
Adontay Veal entered the scoring in the final contest of the campaign, after hitting a free kick and giving the team its first lead of the season.
On the defensive side, Coach Evertt is excited about a young, core group that includes freshman
Jude Gamble, Veal and
Devyn Walsh, in addition to sophomore
Nick Tabak. In between the posts, the Vikings saw impressive play from a variety of goalkeeping options including sophomore
Santiago Aguirre, who finished with 35 saves along with
Liam Kerr, also took reps at goalie and finished with over 40 saves.
The midfielders showed leadership and good potential with sophomores
Noah Tysiac,
Clayton Enfield, Kerr,
Jeremiah Westbrook and
Jarvis Brock. They were able to create chances with their smart play, communication and high energy play.
"This was an excellent outing and everyone on this team should be proud," stated Coach Evertt. "We are all looking forward to indoor training and we believe we will be even more competitive next season."
