BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College women's soccer team played their final home game of the season on Saturday, when they hosted Erie Community College. After a hard-fought battle in the chilly October afternoon, the Vikings fell be a final score of 11-0.
Villa started off strong defensively, fending off the oppositional attacks for the opening ten minutes. Jordan Wright, the USCAA Goalie of the Week, made a couple of tough saves to keep them off the board. Some of the best chances for the Vikings came at the end of the first half, when both
Bianca Brown and
Megan Marafino took shots that were just wide of the target. In the second half, Marafino continued to create chances to try to get Villa on the board. She took three shots, but none were able to find the back of the net.
The Vikings will take to the road on Sunday, Oct. 20 when they take on Lorain County Community College for a 1 p.m. kick off.
