NEW PHILADELPHIA, OH - Jonathan Pozo recorded a double-double and six different Vikings' scored in double-figures as Villa Maria took care of business on the road, downing the University of Kent State at Tuscarawas 96-84 on Tuesday night. It is the ninth straight win for the Vikings and ninth in as many games on the road this season.
Pozo finished with 18 points and 10 assists as he and fellow senior
Dominic Douglas scored a team-high 18. Pozo also added seven rebounds and was 4-of-5 from three. Douglas scored 18 on 8-of-14 shooting and chipped in eight rebounds, five blocks and four assists. The Vikings led by as many as 16 in the second half and shot nearly 62 percent from the field for the game.
Senior
DeJaun Owens scored 17 on 3-of-6 shooting from three. He also had four rebounds and four assists.
Gerald Bibbs and
Trayvon Holt came off the bench to combine for 23 points. Bibbs scored 13 on 5-of-7 shooting and 2-of-3 from long range, while Holt was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor to add 10. Sophomore
Lonnie Taylor chipped in 10 points and five boards. Junior
Jabari Hibbert finished with six points, four dimes and three boards.
Kent State made 16 threes as a team, led by seven from Drew Williams and six from Gunnar Tharp. The two guards combined to score 47 of their team's 84 points.
WHAT'S NEXT
Villa will return home for the first time in nearly a month when they host a pair of games, beginning Saturday at 4 p.m. when they take on College of St. Joseph. The Vikings defeated the Fighting Saints 80-74 last week.
