BUFFALO, NY - Despite a sluggish start, #1 Villa Maria overcame adversity and had it's bench step up en route to a 91-63 victory over Bryant & Stratton Syracuse on Thursday night inside the Villa Athletic Center. Villa got 43 points from it's bench and shot nearly 49 percent from the floor for the game.
Senior
Dominic Douglas led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points as the Vikings had five players in double-figures.
Kwanique Martin had one of his best games in two seasons as the senior came off the bench to score 12 points and grab a team-best eight rebounds. Sophomore
Gerald Bibbs added 11 points and eight boards as well off the bench.
Villa had 24 assists on 37 baskets as junior
Daniel Thompson led the way with seven dimes. Senior
Jonathan Pozo had six helpers while junior
Jabari Hibbert added five.
WHAT'S NEXT
Villa stays at home for it's next tilt when they host SUNY ESF on Saturday at 2:00 PM. They'll try and make it eight in a row to start the season.
