HOUGHTON, NY - The Villa Maria women's basketball team saw it's four-game winning streak snapped on the road Wednesday night as they fell 66-55 to the Houghton College Highlanders.
The Vikings - who came into the game ranked third in the first United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Coaches Poll - could never get into a flow on either end of the game as Houghton's methodical offense slowed the game down and lulled the Vikings into an offensive struggle.
Junior forward
Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter School) led Villa with 31 points but the Vikings were out-rebounded 58-28 which proved to be the difference.
The Vikings are back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they host Genesee Community in their first home game of the season.
