Last Second Bucket Pushes #4 Saints Past Vikings

Villas last second shot off the mark as Fighting Saints steal victory

BUFFALO, NY - After the Villa Maria College Vikings forced a steal and scored the go-ahead basket with 18 seconds left, the fourth-ranked College of St. Joseph Fighting Saints responded with a basket of their own to steal a 75-74 victory in Buffalo on Sunday afternoon.

Villa sophomore Justin Stokes (Buffalo, NY/Middle Early College) forced a steal at mid-court and finished with a layup to give the Vikings a 74-73 lead with 18 seconds left.  The Fighting Saints came right back down the court as Antonio Gordon drove to the basket and laid the game-winning basket in.

Villa led by as many as 10 points, two different times in the second half but couldn't hold off the Saints.  Stokes finished with 15 points, nine assists and six rebounds, to go along with three steals for Villa.  Donte Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Huch Tech) led the Vikings with 21 points while both Dominic Douglas (Bainbridge, GA/Bainbridge) and Darius Huggins (Buffalo, NY/Lackawanna) scored in double-figures, netting 13 and 12 points respectively.
