Niagara County Pulls Away from Vikings Late

Vikings play Thunderwolves tight but fall late

SANBORN, NY - The Villa Maria College Vikings played the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves tight, but couldn't close the game late as they dropped the road contest 93-76 on Thursday evening.

Villa freshman Donte Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Huch Tech) led all scorers with 30 points.  The Huch Tech grad was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and 10-of-17 overall from the field.  He added seven rebounds, five assists and a steal.

The Vikings were within three, 40-37 at halftime and stayed within a possession for the first 10 minutes but a number of momentum-changing calls and game swings tilted the game in the Thunderwolves favor.

Freshman Darius Huggins (Buffalo, NY/Lackawanna) notched his 16th double-double of the year, registering 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Sophomore Justin Stokes (Buffalo, NY/Middle Early College) chipped in 11 points, five assists and two blocks.

The Vikings are back in action on Saturday, February 13 when they travel to take on SUNY Canton.  Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.  The Vikings edged out an 87-86 victory over the fourth-ranked Kangaroos back on January 16.
