Vikings Roll to Third Consecutive Win

Owens scored 25 as Vikings improve to 2-0 in USCAA play

BUFFALO, NY - Behind another hot-shooting day, the (13) Villa Maria College Vikings cruised to a 114-79 victory over (18) Penn State Du Bois on Saturday afternoon at the Villa Athletic Center.

Leading the day once again for Villa was sophomore DeJaun Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) who scored 25 points to lead of pack of five players to reach the double-figure scoring mark.  Owens connected on five triples, marking the seventh time this season the sophomore has put home at least three long balls.

Sophomore Dominic Douglas (Bainbridge, GA/Bainbridge) and freshman Eric Waters (Buffalo, NY/Oracle) each scored 14 and grabbed seven rebounds.  Waters finished with five blocked shots while Douglas had three, helping Villa erase nine shots in total.  They held the Nittany Lions 40.5 percent shooting and out-rebounded them 51-44.

Villa, which entered the games ranked 13th in the latest United States Collegiate Athletic Association poll, picked up its third straight victory while also improving to 2-0 in conference games.  Both conference wins have come over ranked teams with the first against SUNY Delhi on December 5th.  The Vikings are averaging 109 points in league games.
