BUFFALO, NY - A last second shot attempt to tie the game did not fall as the Villa Maria College were on the wrong end of a one-possession game, dropping its home opener 80-78 to the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Monday evening.
Sophomore
Dominic Douglas (Bainbridge, GA/Bainbridge) led Villa with 23 points and was just off on a final-second jump sht that would have sent the game into overtime. Â Instead, the Vikings drop to 3-5 and 0-2 in United States Collegiate Athletic Association action while the Bengals improve to 5-2 and 3-1 in USCAA play.
Villa freshman
Gerald Bibbs (Buffalo, NY/Oracle) scored 19 points and came down with eight rebounds, while junior
Justin Stokes (Buffalo, NY/Middle Early College) added 12 points, eight assists and five rebounds.
The Vikings are back in action on Saturday, November 26th at 4:00 pm against Erie Community College at the Villa Athletic Center.
