BUFFALO, NY - The Villa Maria College Vikings went wire-to-wire, jumping on Columbus State Community College from the opening tip, to pick up a 93-71 victory on Sunday afternoon as part of the Niagara National Insurance Tournament hosted by Erie Community College.

Sophomore forward Dominic Douglas (Bainbridge, GA/Bainbridge) scored 16 points, 15 of which came in the first half, and pulled down nine rebounds leading to a spot on the All-Tournament Team.  Freshman Eric Waters (Buffalo, NY/Oracle) also registered 16 points and nine rebounds.  Sophomore DeJaun Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) and freshman Damone Brown Jr. (Buffalo, NY/East) also scored in double-figures, netting 15 and 13 points respectively.  The duo also combined to hit seven triples.

The Vikings jumped out to a 7-0 lead and didn't look back.  Douglas scored 10 of the team's first 13 points as the Vikings led 15-4 less than four minutes into the game.  Columbus State got within three midway through the half but Villa quickly ripped off the next five points to push the lead back to eight.

After leading by as many as 16 points in the first half, a 12-point halftime lead was extended to as many as 25 in the second half as the Vikings began to run away.  12 different players scored for Villa, marking the most the team has put on the score sheet all year.

Both Gerald Bibbs (Buffalo, NY/Oracle) and Justin Stokes (Buffalo, NY/Middle Early College) scored nine points for Villa and also combined for five steals.  As a team, Villa out-rebounded the Cougars 39-36 and also totaled 18 assists to just 15 turnovers.

Villa (2-3) is back in action on Tuesday when they travel across the border to take on Sheridan College at 8 p.m.
