BUFFALO, NY - Behind 21 points and 14 rebounds from freshman forward
Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry), the Villa Maria Lady Vikings made easy work of Sheridan College, 71-47, on Monday afternoon at the Villa Athletic Center.
Owens added eight assists, three steals and three blocks to her impressive stat line as the Lady Vikings led nearly wire to wire. Junior guard
Jayvonna Kincannon (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community) added 18 points and 8 assists, while fellow junior
Tia Onipede notched double-figures as well, scoring 10 points and addid four steals.
As a team, the Lady Vikings totaled 23 steals and forced 34 Bruin turnovers. Freshman
Naomi Walker (Buffalo, NY/McKinley) led the way with seven steals while freshman
Lajanai Thomas (Kenosha, WI/Burgard) totaled a career-high five.
Villa recorded 23 assists on 29 made field goals. Walker added eight points and six rebounds as the Lady Vikings got just 14 minutes from senior guard
Magan Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community) as she recovers from an injury suffered in the team's last game. Campbell scored eight points and dished out six dimes in in her first apperance off the bench this season.
Villa improves to 11-2 on the season and remains 4-0 against USCAA II opponents. They hit the court next on December 28th when they begin a four game road trip against the College of St. Joseph's (VT) in Rutland, Vermont. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
