RUTLAND, VT - The College of St. Joseph's Fighting Saints, who came into Monday's game against Villa Maria ranked second in the latest USCAA Coaches Poll, took down the Lady Vikings 71-61 on Monday evening.
The Fighting Saints (8-1) advanced to the USCAA II National Championship game a year ago and returned many kep pieces of it's near-championship roster. Â Despite the Lady Vikings (11-3) getting 23 and 20 points from guards
Jayvonna Kincannon (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community) and
Magan Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community), St. Joseph's never trailed in ths second half.
Jazsala Laracuente finished with a team-high 21 points while Regina Steele totaled 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Fighting Saints. Â Villa got 10 points and 9 rebounds from freshman
Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) and 8 points from freshman
Naomi Walker (Buffalo, NY/McKinley).
The Lady Vikings continue their road trip and will take on the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Wednesday, December 30.
