Coach Matthew Hill is a passionate and accomplished leader in the world of youth flag football, serving as the Director and Owner of Niagara Youth Flag Football and the elite travel program Niagara Nitros. What began five years ago with just 60 players has rapidly grown under his leadership into one of Canada's largest and most respected flag football organizations, now boasting over 1,800 athletes. The program offers year-round leagues, skill development, camps, and competitive opportunities for youth across Ontario.
As the founder of the Niagara Nitros, Coach Hill has built a powerhouse travel program with 16 teams that compete across North America. The Nitros have earned a reputation as one of the top flag football programs in the country, and Coach Hill's teams have consistently delivered results at the highest levels of competition. His resume includes:
- 8 Provincial Championships
- 6 National Championships
- 2 World Championships
- Success across U16 and U18 boys and girls divisions
In addition to his work with youth athletes, Coach Hill recently led the Brock Badgers university team to a bronze medal at Provincials, an impressive feat for a program only in its second year.
Now, Coach Hill is excited to bring his experience and energy to the Villa Maria Vikings in Buffalo, New York. He was drawn to the Vikings’ culture and the coaching leadership of Coach Keith and Coach Hex, whose dedication and style align with his own values.
“Unfortunately, in Canada we’re not yet offering enough opportunities for young female athletes to pursue flag football at the next level,” says Coach Hill. “Villa Maria opens doors — real scholarship and collegiate pathways — and I’m excited to help create those opportunities for girls across Ontario.”
Coach Hill is committed to growing the sport, developing athletes on and off the field, and continuing to push boundaries for what’s possible in flag football.
