Wheeling, W. Va. - Villa Maria Athletic Director and Men's Head Basketball Coach
Ricky Yahn was inducted into the Wheeling University Athletics Hall of Fame during this past holiday weekend on Saturday, Sept. 5.
"I am honored to join the Wheeling University Hall of Fame. Any success I had was because I was fortunate to play on some very talented teams, led by a Hall of Fame Coach, Jay DeFruscio," Yahn said.
Yahn helped the Wheeling Men's Basketball team to back-to-back NCAA D2 Tournament appearances, when the team was a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and known as Wheeling Jesuit University.
Yahn ranks 13th all-time in scoring with nearly 1,500 points, and helped the Cardinals win the WVIAC in 2005. Yahn received First team WVIAC honors his senior year, and is the program's all-time leader in made 3-pointers and 3-point percentage.
Playing for the program's all-time winningest coach, DeFruscio, Yahn helped the Cardinals to an 80-38 overall record during his time on the court at Wheeling.
Yahn was one of nine recipients (eight individuals and one team) of the 2026 Wheeling HOF Class and made the cut in his first year of eligibility.
