AMHERST, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College women's flag football team finished a doubleheader with Bryant and Stratton College Albany on Sunday, April 19, and secured the top-seed in the NCFFL postseason after a 31-0 victory at Williamsville South High School.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Brianna Shalinsky opened the scoring with a rushing score in first quarter for a 6-0 lead.
- Alannah Bushorr made good on a 50-plus yard punt return to take the Vikings to the half with a 12-0 lead.
- Scarlett Melancon's run closed out the first-quarter scoring for a 19-0 Viking lead.
- Kiara Mercado opened the second half with a 66-yard rushing score for an 18-0 lead.
- Melancon pushed the Viking lead to 25-0 with a short run for her second score of the game.
- Morgyn Mersdorf rounded out the game's scoring with a rushing touchdown for the 31-0 final.
- Villa finished with four rushing touchdowns.
- The Viking defense finished with nine tackles-for-loss and two breakups.
- Alyssa Saavedra and Mersdorf led the defense with five tackles each.
- Of the five players that finished with tackles-for-loss totals, Promise Myers led that group with four, followed by two from Angelina Green.
- Keiliany Diaz and Mercado recorded breakups.
- The victory was the Vikings' eighth straight and left Villa with an 12-0 record in NCFFL play.
- Villa has recorded six shutout wins this season.
