COLUMBIA, MD. – The Villa Maria women's flag football team finished with a 6-0 record on its Maryland road excursion that wrapped up at the National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) Maryland Championship Tournament with a 6-0 victory over Mercyhurst University (Erie, Pa.) in the second game of a doubleheader on March 29 at Howard Community College.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game was decided on Villa's final drive of the game in the final two minutes.
- Alannah Bushorr caught a TD pass from 18 yards out from Brianna Shalinsky.
- The Lakers had several redzone possessions with the Viking defense standing tall on each.
- Kiera LeBreton ended Mercyhurt's best scoring drive in the first half with a tackle-for-loss on fourth down.
- Keiliany Diaz ended a Laker second-half drive with an interception after Lily Runkel was credited with a pass breakup.
- The Vikings' defensive secondary was stout with eight combined pass breakups from five players including Diaz, Runkel, LeBreton, Kiara Mercado and Angelina Green.
- In the four-game tournament, Villa never allowed more than one score on defense.
- Scarlett Melancon and Bushorr were named to the National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) Maryland Championship All-Tournament Team.
- The victory improved Villa's win streak to seven games after six wins on the Maryland trip that started with a pair of wins Thursday followed by a 4-0 record at the NCFFL Maryland Championship Tournament on the weekend.
