ASHLAND, OH – The Villa Maria College men's basketball team were on the road on Saturday to play against Ashland University. The Vikings got off to a slow start and were unable to come back, losing by a final score of 81-48. With the loss, Villa now hold a record of 8-8, while the Eagles move to 13-6 on the season.
The Vikings were cold on offense to start the game, scoring just two points in the opening nine minutes of the game and falling behind 22-7 with ten minutes to go.
Chris Coleman was the leading scorer in the first half with six points, hitting a perfect 2-for-2 from three. As a team, Villa was trailing 41-16 at halftime. In the second frame, the offense picked up, scoring 30 points, but they were unable to stop the Eagles. When the final horn ended, the Vikings were defeated 81-48
Zamar Harris was the leading scorer with 13 points and added two assists and two rebounds.
Nolan Shephard was the other double-digit scorer with 12 points, while collecting six rebounds of his own. Villa are back in action on Monday, January 31 as they travel to Jamestown Community College for a 7:30pm game time.
