BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College women's soccer team played their season opener on Saturday, when they hosted Bryant and Stratton-Albany in a 1 p.m. matchup. In addition to the team starting their season, it was also the first game under new head coach,
Scott Laubenheimer. Despite a valiant effort, the Vikings fell to the Bobcats by a final score of 9-0. Albany move to 1-1 on the year, as Villa begins 0-1.
Villa was held to zero shots on goal as the Bobcats kept up a high intensity offense to kick off the game.
Amarylis Ramos was the goalkeeper for the Vikings and recorded seven saves. The team will have a quick turnaround as they are back in action on Sunday, September 19, as they welcome Lorain County Community College to town. The match will begin at 1 pm.
