ENOLA, PA – The Villa Maria College women's basketball team went on the road on Saturday and defeated Central Penn College 91-52. The Vikings move to 5-3 on the year, while the Knights fall to 1-3. Villa jumped out to a 38-31 lead at half time, but took complete command in the fourth quarter when they outscored the opposition 30-5.
The fourth quarter began with a 19-0 run and it was ignited
Maria Falgana and
Chmicka Kennedy who scored the initial seven points.
Taliah Bush, who made her season debut, then scored back-to-back layups to push the teams lead to 72-47 with seven minutes to play.
Leah McQuiller and Autumn Adams-Edwards joined the scoring part with layups to extend the advantage to 30.
Cortinea Smith sealed the big run with a three-pointer at the 4:06 mark. Villa cruised comfortably to a 91-52 victory over Central Penn.
Smith was impressive in 19 minutes of action off of the bench, scoring 21 points and grabbing five rebounds. Falgana had a strong day with 18 points and shooting 8-for-14 from the field and collecting six rebounds. Adams-Edwards and Kennedy, both finished in double-digit scoring by recording 14 and 13 points respectively.
The Vikings will have a small break before their next game. They will hit the road on Wednesday, December 1 when they battle D'Youville College at 5 p.m. in Buffalo.
