Vikings Hit Century Mark In Win

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College women's basketball team are competing in the Bobcat Bash this weekend, which is hosted by Bryant and Stratton-Buffalo. The Vikings began their weekend with a game against Vermont Tech on Saturday and they asserted their dominance throughout the match, winning 104-19. It is the ninth time in program history that the women's team scored 100 points or more. The last time they hit the century mark was on Feb. 2, 2019 when they scored 101 against UC Clermont.
 
Villa jumped ahead quickly, scoring 19 unanswered points to start the game before Vermont Tech hit a three for their first points. The Vikings continued their overall dominance in the second quarter where they outscored the Knights 29-0 and took a 55-5 advantage into half-time. The third quarter saw similar results, with Villa scoring 30 points, while only allowing two be the opposition. When they final horn sounded, the Vikings walked away with a 104-19 victory. It is the most points scored by Villa in team history and the largest margin of victory in team history.
 
Leah McQuiller was the leading scorer with 32 points on 12-for-20 shooting from the field. She collected 10 rebounds for the double-double, while also getting it done defensively with five steals and three blocks. Maria Falgana also had a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds and was close to a quadruple double with eight assists and eight steals. Autumn Adams-Edwards was the second leading scorer with 20 points and recorded six assists, five rebounds and eight steals. Danyea Barclay continues her strong year with 19 points and six rebounds.
 
The Vikings will battle Washington Adventist University on the second day of the Bobcat Bash. Tip-off is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start.
