BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College men's basketball team begin their season this weekend after an addition to the schedule was made. The University of Maine at Fort Kent will visit Buffalo and take on the Vikings on Saturday, October 30 at 1 p.m.
Full Schedule In Place
The men's basketball team competed in just ten games in the 2020-21 season, with a host of games being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This campaign head coach,
Desmond Randall, has scheduled a full slate of competitions with the hope of continuing to set the foundation to his program.
Villa has a young roster, with only two players being upperclassman in senior,
Jeriah Williams and junior,
Rhalon Bragg. Sophomores,
Trent Cordone,
Nolan Shephard and
Bersy Moundzieho will all look to take another step after their first year of collegiate basketball. The remaining seven roster slots are taken by freshmen. Guards,
Caleb Marshall,
Zamar Harris,
Chris Coleman and
Sam Parrett will all battle for minutes, while forwards,
Jaiden Green,
Nick Price and
Jerrold Skillon will look to add size and versatility in the paint.
Scouting Maine Fort Kent
The Bengals only managed to play three games at the tail end of the 2020-21 season, and in 2019-20 they finished with a record of 9-19. Five players return from that unit that played a full slate of games, including sophomores Julian Hymes, Micah Petty, Taj Williams, junior Bryce Gilbert and senior Brandon Ruaro. In 2019-20, the Bengals averaged 69.4 points per game to go along with, 37.5 rebounds per game and 13.7 assists per game. They shot 41.4 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from three.
