Vikings Take On Falcons In Massachusetts

BOSTON, MA – The Villa Maria College men's basketball team were in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, Jan. 17 to take on Fisher College. The Vikings dropped their fourth straight game, falling short against the Falcon's by a final score of 82-73. Villa now holds a record of 6-11, while Fisher move to over .500 with a 10-9 mark on the year.

The Vikings battled back-and-forth with the Falcons. Raymond Sims kicked off the game with two consecutive buckets and then Trayvon Holt and Jordan Heine joined the scoring party with shots of their own as the two teams were tied 9-9 in the opening six minutes. The two units began to trade baskets, but then the Falcons started to extend their advantage to double-digits. Villa did their best to stay within striking distance and at halftime, they were down 44-28.

Holt kicked off the second frame with three consecutive free-throws, before back-to-back three pointers by Sims and Jaylin Rose cut the deficit back down to single digits at the 17:59 mark. The Falcons pushed their lead back up multiple times, but Villa began to make a push of their own. Dorion Ivey and Victor Fuller made three-point shots to cut their deficit to just seven points. With 1:20 on the clock, Fuller once again knocked down a three to put the Vikings within striking distance. Unfortunately, the comeback fell short as they lost 82-73.

Holt impressed with 25 points on 11-for-16 shooting from field, while also grabbing six rebounds and recording two steals. Sims finished the game with 17 points and collected five rebounds and three assists. Fuller also finished with double-digit scoring, totaling 14 points and four rebounds.

The Vikings return home on Wednesday, Jan. 22 as they host Bryant and Stratton-Syracuse with a scheduled tip-off time of 6:30 p.m.
