It was short lived however, as the opposition ended the first quarter with a scoring run that put them ahead 16-11 at the end of the first frame. The Vikings did their best to stop the bleeding in the second quarter, with Winfield and Ta Lia Burgess hitting shots from the behind the arc to keep the team within single digits, but the Bobcats began to convert buckets of their own and pushed their advantage to 40-21 at halftime.

Villa began to trim at their deficit in the third quarter by using scores by Winfield and Tekia Gary to bring the score to 42-28, two minutes in. After a make by the Bobcats, Hall scored back-to-back buckets and then Winfield made a mid-range jumper to shrink the deficit to just 11 points with 3:16 to play in the third. Estella Anderson was able to cut it to single-digits with two made free-throws, and going into the final quarter of play, Villa was down 53-41.
