Vikings Start Road Trip Against Apprentice on Friday

THE VILL
  • Villa returns to action after more than two weeks away and are looking to start a five-game stretch away from home with another ranked victory.  They currently sit atop the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division II National Coaches Poll and are 12-1 on the season.
  • This will be the fifth game outside of the Villa Athletic Center as the Vikings are a perfect 4-0 away from home (3-0 away, 1-0 neutral).
  • Villa holds six wins over ranked teams this season and have already defeated the Builders this season 83-58 back on November 18th in the SUNY Delhi Hall-of-Fame Classic Championship Game.
  • The Vikings are scoring 92.3 points per game this season while shooting 46.9 percent from the floor, and 34.7 percent from three.  They are giving up just 74.8 points per game and holding opponents 42.3 percent from the floor and 24.4 percent from beyond the arc.
  • They are out-rebounding opponents by almost six per and dish out more than 21 assists per contest.
  • Villa has five players averaging in double-figures with seniors DeJaun Owens and Dominic Douglas leading the way.  Owens is scoring 17.1 per game and shooting 40.4 percent from three.  Douglas is averaging 13.5 points on 46.9 percent shooting.
  • Sophomore Lonnie Taylor is shooting 55.5 percent from the floor and scoring 10.7 points and pulling down nearly seven rebounds per game.  Fellow sophomore Gerald Bibbs is averaging 10.4 points and seven rebounds while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from three.
  • Senior Jonathan Pozo is averaging 10.2 points and more than 4.2 helpers.  Junior Jabari Hibbert is dishing out a team best 4.8 assists while fellow junior Daniel Thompson is scoring 8.2 points and shooting 38.2 percent from three.
  • Junior Trayvon Holt scored a season-high 20 in Villa's last outing and is averaging 6.2 points on 53.1 percent shooting. 

THE OPPONENT
  • The Builders enter Friday's game with a 7-6 overall record and a 3-1 mark in EMAC conference play.  They have lost three straight but opened the season 4-1 with their lone loss coming to Villa back on November 18th in the SUNY Delhi Hall-of-Fame Classic Championship Game.
  • Apprentice is currently ranked ninth in the latest United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division I National Coaches Poll and have been ranked as high as seventh this year.
  • The Builders' resume consists of wins over Warren Wilson, which advanced to last year's National Final Four, and Stratford, which holds a victory this season over the Division II four-time defending National Champion, Berkeley College. 
  • They are led offensively by a pair of forwards, freshman Marion Moore and Drew Walton.  Moore is scoring 20.3 points and securing nearly eight rebounds per game.  Walton is averaging a double-double with 18 points and just shy of 13 boards.
  • Apprentice is averaging more than 80 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the floor.  They average nearly 43 rebounds per game and shoot just 27.3 percent from three.
  • They are 2-2 at home this season.
