THE OPENING TIP
The Villa Maria College Vikings make their second straight trip to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament after advancing to the Elite 8 last year as the eighth seed.  This season, Villa enters the tournament as the third seed and will take on sixth-seeded Penn State Greater Allegheny on Thursday at 12:00 p.m.  Villa posts a 24-5 overall record heading into the tournament and is fresh off a Northeastern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (NIAC) regular season and postseason championship.  Villa defeated the University of Maine at Fort Kent 80-78 this past Saturday in the championship game.  Thursday's Elite 8 contest will take place inside the Main Arena on the campus of Penn State Fayette, the Eberly Campus in Uniontown, PA.  

LEADING THE CHARGE
- Villa continues to be led by a group effort, but junior Dominic Douglas posts the highest scoring numbers, netting 17.7 points per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field.  He shoots a team best 80.3 percent from the free throw line and grabs more than six rebounds per contest.
- Junior DeJaun Owens was named to the USCAA Men's Basketball Division II All-America First Team on Tuesday night and is second on the team in scoring, putting home 15.8 points while shooting a blazing-hot 41.9 percent from beyond the arc.  He also shoots 75.2 percent from the free throw line and has 29 blocked shots on the year.
- Villa's lone senior Justin Stokes was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-American on Tuesday as well.  Stokes is scoring 9.6 points per game and leads the team in assists, dishing out nearly five per contest.  He also has 63 steals and 22 blocks.
- Freshman Lonnie Taylor, an NIAC First Team member and Conference Freshman of the Year, is nearly averaging a triple-double.  He is scoring 13.1 points and securing 9.3 rebounds per game.  He is shooting 63.3 percent from the floor and has 31 blocked shots.
- Junior Jay Scarbrough leads Villa off the bench, scoring 12.6 per contest.  He has blown past Villa's single-season steals record, having come up with 121 thus far on the season.
- Sophomore Daniel Thompson comes off the bench to score 8.3 points while shooting 34.2 percent from beyond the arc.  He averages 2.1 assists and has 33 steals on the year. He shoots 77.6 percent from the free throw line.
- Jonathan Pozo, a junior from the Bronx, has started 23 games at point guard for the Vikings this season and is averaging seven points, 3.3 assists and 3.8 boards.  He is shooting 77.8 percent from the free throw line and has 32 made triples.
- Appearing in 20 games off the bench, junior Kwanique Martin is shooting nearly 52 percent from the field and securing more than five rebounds in just 11 minutes.  He is averaging 5.6 points and has 17 blocks.
- Sophomore Kevin Ford has appeared in 24 games for Villa, coming off the bench to run the point.  He is averaging 3.5 assists 2.4 boards and 2.1 points.
- Junior Tommy Beaubrum has seen an increased role in the second half of the season.  He is averaging 2.1 points, 2.5 rebounds.
- Freshman Daryl Hanes has appeared in 12 games and is averaging 1.8 points.  He has four steals.

SCOUTING REPORT
Penn State Greater Allegheny (PSGA) posted a 13-3 mark in conference play and an 19-7 record overall.  Winners of eight of nine to end the season, PSGA is averaging 83.5 points per game and shooting 36.8 percent from three.  They hold teams to 39 percent shooting and 31 percent from beyond the arc.  They are led by the following players...
