BUFFALO, NY - Dominic Douglas eclipsed 1,000 career points,
Justin Stokes was honored on senior day, and the #2 Villa Maria men's basketball team took care of business on Sunday afternoon, downing #13 SUNY Delhi 83-76 inside the Villa Athletic Center. With the win, Villa clinches the Northeastern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (NIAC) regular season crown and number-one seed in the conference tournament to be held February 23rd and 24th at Villa.
Douglas scored a game-high 32 points, one shy of his career high, as he became the third member of the men's basketball program this season to eclipse 1,000 career points. Douglas was 8-of-15 from the floor and 16-of-20 from the free throw line en route to the career-performance. Villa shot nearly 47 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the free throw line.
Freshman
Lonnie Taylor added 17 points and seven rebounds while junior
Jay Scarbrough finished with 12 points, seven assists, three steals and two blocks.
VIlla will finish it's regular season on Saturday in Phoenixville, PA against the University of Valley Forge at 1 p.m.
