MCKEESPORT, PA - Defense, pressure and intensity were the ingredients to success on Friday night at #1 Villa Maria bounced back from it's first loss of the season and picked up a convincing 93-68 win at Penn State Greater Allegheny. The last time these two teams met, it took three overtimes in the national quarterfinal, it took three overtimes for Villa to get the job done. But this time, Villa made it less hectic.
Senior
DeJaun Owens led the way with 17 points and sophomore
Lonnie Taylor added 16 off the bench.
Gerald Bibbs and
Jonathan Pozo were also in double-figures, scoring 15 and 11 points respectively. The Vikings forced 17 turnovers and held Penn State to 35 percent shooting in the first half en route to a 17-point halftime lead. They stretched that to as many as 36 in the second half.
WHAT'S NEXT
Villa has a quick turnaround as they will hit the road once again on Sunday for a 2 p.m. tilt with Bryant & Stratton Rochester.
