JOHNSON CITY, NY - For their first time on the road this season, the Vikings of Villa Maria made things look easy, upending the formerly undefeated Davis College Falcons 88-52 on Wednesday evening inside the Robb Activity Center. Â The Vikings even their record at 2-2, while Davis suffers its first loss of the season, falling to 3-1.
Senior forward
Shaquana Owens finished with her first triple-double of the season and 10th of her career, scoring a game-high 25 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Â She was 10-for-14 from the field and 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.
Juniors
Chmicka Kennedy and
Tekia Gary each scored 13 for Villa. Â Kennedy added eight helpers and seven boards while Gary chipped in five rebounds and five steals. Â Villa shot 42.9 percent from the field and 50 percent (10-20) from three. Â Sophomore
Armoni Jordan came off the bench to score 10 points for the Vikings. Â Villa's bench out-scored that of Davis, 25-6.
Villa won many more statistical battles as well including rebounding (54-37), turnovers (27-15), blocks (5-3), assists (26-13) and steals (18-8).
WHAT'S NEXT
The Vikings are back at home this Friday when they host Penn State Du Bois at 7 p.m. Â The two teams met last season in Du Bois, PA as the road team came out with a 79-74 victory.
