Villa Hits the Road to Take on Davis College Wednesday

Women's basketball opens road schedule at Davis

TIP-OFF NOTES
  • This is the first ever meeting between the Vikings and Falcons
  • This marks the first road game of the season for the Vikings as they played their first three games of the season inside the Villa Athletic Center on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
  • Villa's first three games of the season came against one United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I opponent (University of Maine at Fort Kent), one USCAA Division II opponent (Warren Wilson College) and one National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) opponent (Fisher College).  UMFK is also in the NAIA.
  • The Vikings went 1-1 in the Villa Tip-Off Classic, falling 64-61 to Fisher and defeating Warren Wilson 70-57.  They fell to UMFK 69-63 following the tournament.
  • This game marks the first of seven the Vikings will play on the road of their next eight games.  They will play six consecutive road games from November 20th to December 7th.

ABOUT DAVIS
  • The Falcons are coming off a 16-11 campaign in 2017-18 and an appearance in the USCAA National Tournament
  • Davis was the seventh seed in last year's tournament, falling to eventual National Champion, Johnson & Wales.  They defeated Maine Augusta in the consolation game.
  • The Falcons lost their top two scorers from last season, Brooke Lewandowski and Jamie Brown.  The two combined to average more than 36 per game.
  • Braedyn Mims returns to this year's squad after averaging 9.6 points per game last season.
  • Davis is averaging 72.7 points per game this season.  Also securing 44 rebounds and dishing out 15 assists per game.

THE VIKINGS
  • Villa enters Wednesday's game with a 1-2 record through three games this season.
  • Leading the way offensively is junior guard Chmicka Kennedy who is averaging 14.3 points per game.  She is also averaging 7.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists.
  • Sophomore Armoni Jordan is scoring 13.3 points per game while senior forward and reigning USCAA Women's Basketball Division II National Player of the Year, Shaquana Owens, is averaging 13 points and 10.5 rebounds.
  • The Vikings are scoring 64.7 points per game while shooting just .354 percent from the floor
  • They are forcing more than 23 turnovers per game and coming up with nearly 14 steals
  • Juniors Bianca Brown and Nina Cray are scoring 9.0 and 8.3 points respectively
