BUFFALO, NY - The 2018 soccer season came to a close for the Villa Maria College women's team on Thursday evening as sophomore
Megan Marafino netted her second goal of the season in a 4-1 defeat to Mercyhurst North East.
Marafino scored in the 54th minute on Thursday, netting the ball from the left side of the box off an assist from junior
Nina Cray. It was one of Villa's best games of the season as they sustained long-term offensive pressure and defended many opportunities set up by Mercyhurst.
Junior
Leah McQuiller made six saves for the Vikings. Mercyhurst had 12 shots on net while Villa had three. All three were taken by Marafino.
The Vikings close their 2018 campaign 0-9 but showed steady signs of improvement as the season progressed. Head Coach
Amanda Janosky has already been hard working on the recruiting trail and will look to add student-athletes with the returners to have an even more successful 2019 season on and off the field.
