BUFFALO, NY - Dominic Douglas scored 33 points and the Vikings shot 56 percent in the second half as Villa Maria picked up a 102-87 victory over the College of St. Joseph Fighting Saints on Saturday afternoon inside the Villa Athletic Center.
The Vikings and Saints went toe-to-toe for the first 20 minutes before Villa opened up a double-digit lead midway through the second half. Â Douglas scored 17 of his 33 in the second half and was 6-of-10 from the field, and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Â Villa improves to 17-3 and 5-0 in Northeastern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (NIAC) play. Â
Villa entered the game ranked second in the latest United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II National Coaches Poll while CSJ is a member of the USCAAÂ Division I and is transitioning to also be a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), a scholarship-based organization.
Douglas also added nine rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. Â Junior
DeJaun Owens scored 14 points and with his second field goal of the game, surpassed 1,000 career points, becoming the first male athlete in Villa history to do so. Â He hit three triples and was 5-of-10 from the field.

Daniel Thompson came off the bench to score 13 points while freshman
Lonnie Taylor and junior
Jonathan Pozo scored 12 and 10 points respectively.  Taylor secured a team-high 11 rebounds while Pozo dished out six assists.
The Vikings have now won three straight and will next play a road contest on Tuesday against #19 Penn State Du Bois. Â Tip is set for 7 p.m.
