BUFFALO, NY - The Villa Maria College Vikings (15-11, 7-3 USCAA II) shot 68 percent in the second half as they posted a second half comeback, besting the Point Park University Pioneers 109-104 on Thursday night at the Villa Athletic Center. The Vikings had four players score at least 20 points as they picked up their third consecutive victory.
Freshman
Gerald Bibbs (Buffalo, NY/Oracle Charter) led the way with his fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore
DeJaun Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) scored a game-high 26 points off the bench. Bibbs was 12-of-16 from the floor while Owens knocked down four triples.
The Vikings overcame a double-digit deficit in the first half and trailed by four at halftime. They took a 58-57 lead with 17:04 and never trailed again. Junior
Justin Stokes (Buffalo, NY/Middle Early College) and freshman
Eric Waters (Buffalo, NY/Oracle Charter) each netted 20 points for Villa as well, combining to shoot 13-of-20 from the field.
Gavin Rajahpillay finished with 21 points and 14 assists for Point Park, who made 11 threes in the game.
