BUFFALO, NY - Sophomore
Dominic Douglas (Bainbridge, GA/Bainbridge High School) sank two free throws with three seconds left helping the #9 Villa Maria College Vikings break an 80-80 tie and secure a 82-80 victory over the SUNY Canton Kangaroos on Friday evening at the Villa Athletic Center.
Freshman
Gerald Bibbs (Buffalo, NY/Oracle Charter) scored 29 points to lead Villa. Â He also grabbed 12 rebounds, making it the third time this season he has recorded a double-double. Â Fellow freshman
Eric Waters (Buffalo, NY/Oracle Charter) chipped in 19 off the bench to go along with nine rebounds.
Villa (11-9, 5-2) shot 50 percent in the second half while holding Canton (10-8) to just 34 percent. Â Villa also shot a season-best 85 percent from the free throw line. Â Junior
Justin Stokes (Buffalo, NY/Middle Early College) finished with 10 points, eight assists, four rebounds, a block and a steal.
Canton came into the game ranked 11th in the latest USCAAÂ Division I National Coaches Poll.
