CONCORD, NH - The Villa Maria College Lady Vikings were unable to secure an undefeated road-trip, dropping a 74-65 contest to New Hampshire Technical Institute on Thursday evening.
Villa (10-7), which came into the game ranked 12th in the latest United States Collegiate Athletic Association Coaches Poll, led 60-59 with 6:49 left in the games after back-to-back buckets by freshman
Nyree Brown (Buffalo, NY/Health Sciences) and sophomore
Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter), but went cold after, allowing a 15-5 run to end the game. NHTI (12-6) came into the game ranked sixth in the latest poll.
Owens finished with 27 points to lead all scorers while also grabbing eight rebounds and coming up with six steals. Freshman
Nina Cray (Wheatland, IA/Calamus-Wheatland) finished with her second double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and corralling a season-best 16 rebounds.
The Lady Vikings are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Jamestown to do battle with the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks at 1 p.m.
