RUTLAND, VT - The #12 Villa Maria College Lady Vikings scored the biggest win of their young program's history on Wedensday night when they took down the defending United States Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Division II National Champions, the #9 College of St. Joseph Fighting Saints 66-57 on Wednesday evening.
Sophomore forward
Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter) was a steal away from a triple-double, finishing with 25 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals four assists and four blocks. Â Three other players scored in double figures for Villa as senior
Jayvonna Kincannon (Buffalo, NY/Genesee Community) and freshman
Leah McQuiller (Lackawanna, NY/Mount Mercy Academy) each netted 11 while junior
Dominique Davis (Buffalo, NY/Genesee Community) scored 10. Â Kincannon dished out 10 dimes as well. Â Freshman
Nina Cray (Wheatland, IA/Calamus-Wheatland) finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Vikings are back in action on Thursday night when they play #6 New Hampshire Technological Institute at 8 p.m.
