SANBORN, NY - Freshman
Armoni Jordan (Lockport, NY/South Park) scored a season-high 25 points, and four Villa Maria College Lady Vikings scored in double-figures as they easily handled the Community College of Baltimore County-DundalkĀ 96-49 in the opening game of the 2016 Thunderwolves Classic on Saturday evening.
Villa (4-4) picked up it's fourth consecutive win and did so convincingly, never trailing, and leading the Lions (2-2) by as many as 51 points. Ā Jordan, who also added seven rebounds, five assists and three steals, came out aggressive from the beginning and didn't let up. Ā Sophomore
Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) added 20 points and eight steals, while senior
Jayvonna KincannonĀ (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community) scored 15 and recorded seven steals.
Freshman
Leah McQuiller (Lackawanna, NY/Mount Mercy) recorded her first double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and securing 11 rebounds. Ā Fellow freshman
Nina Cray (Wheatland, IA/Calamus-Wheatland) also recorded double-digit rebounds with 10, while also chipping in seven points.
The Vikings advance to play the host school, the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the Championship game. Ā It is a rematch of last year's title game, one the Thunderwolves won 76-56.
