SANBORN, NY - Despite a 12-point second half lead and one of the best defensive efforts of the season, the Villa Maria College Lady Vikings were doomed by a tough finish as they fell in the Thunderwolves Classic Title Game to the host school, Niagara County Community College 74-64 on Sunday afternoon.

Jayvonna Kincannon (Buffalo, NY) led the way offensively with 16 points and seven rebounds while sophomore
Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) netted 14. Â The Lady Vikings held a 12-point lead with 5:30 left in the third quarter before the Thunderwolves closed the quarter on a 15-2 run to take a one-point, 49-48 lead into the final 10 minutes.
The Lady Vikings (4-5) were able to take the lead back in the early stages of the final quarter but couldn't hang on to it as they were out-scored 25-16 in the fourth quarter.  The Thunderwolves out-rebounded the Lady Vikings 70-48.
The loss snaps Villa's four-game win streak while the Thunderwolves improved to 8-0 on the year.
Villa next plays on Friday, December 2 when they host Seneca College (ON) at 7 p.m.
