DEPEW, NY – The Villa Maria College women's soccer team completed it's 2016 campaign and first season of competition on Saturday afternoon, falling to Alfred State College 12-0 at Rehm Road Field.
The Vikings' goalkeeper combination of freshmen
Nina Cray (Wheatland, IA/Calamus-Wheatland) and Kamea Parsons (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) made seven saves. Cray came up with six stops in the first half as Parsons recorded one save in the second half.
Freshmen
Moyce Farley (Rochester, NY) and
Ashlynn Banks (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) each recorded a shot for the Vikings (0-8), who also took one corner kick as well.
The Pioneers had 25 shots as Kylie Newman led the team with a hat trick. They also had seven assists as the NCAA Division III and USCAA foe improved to 7-7 with the win. They came into the contest ranked eighth in the latest USCAA National Poll.
The men's and women's soccer teams have both now completed their first season of competition and will head into the first offseason looking to build off positives and get better as a team.
