PITTSBURGH, PA - The Point Park Lady Pioneers shot 58 percent and nearly 44 percent from beyond the arc to hand the Villa Lady Vikings their first loss of the 2015-16 season. Despite a game-high 19 points from Villa junior
Magan Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community) the Lady Vikings fell 100-58 and dropped to 3-1 on Tuesday evening.
Point Park, members of the National Athletic Intercollegiate Association (NAIA) and the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC), improved to 4-1 on the season and stretched their win streak to four games. Celina DiPietro and Leah Hurst led the way with 15 points for the Pioneers.
Campbell was 3-of-7 from beyond the arc while freshman
Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) also knocked down three triples en route to 18 points and 7 rebounds.
Jayvonna Kincannon (Buffalo, NY/McKinley) was also in double-figures for the Lady Vikings with 12 points.
Villa shot just 35 percent for the game and 46 percent from the free throw line. After being out-scored 30-17 in the first quarter, Villa hung with the Pioneers in the second quarter, 26-21. Point Park was able to find the extra separation in the third quarter as they raced to a 26-10 third quarter. Villa was able to put just 20 points on the board in the second half.
Point Park, who played 12 different players, won the battle on the boards, 54-30 and also out-scored the Lady Vikings 42-10 in the paint and 20-4 in second chance points.
Villa returns home to take on Penn State DuBois on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
