BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College women's flag football team got its first win of the season against Post University, 32-12, in a non-conference game on March 21 at D'Youville University's Dobson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Angelina Green opened the scoring with a reception in first quarter for a 7-0 lead.
- The Eagles responded with back-to-back TD receptions to end the second and begin the third for a 12-7 lead.
- Kiara Mercado scored her first of two TD's on the day with a reception for the last score of the third to give Villa a 14-12 lead.
- The Vikings had their best quarter of the young season in the fourth with three scores.
- Scarlett Melancon made good on a long reception to extend Villa's lead to 20-12.
- Alannah Bushorr found the endzone on a reception of 20-plus yards for a 26-12 Villa lead.
- Mercado rounded out the game's scoring after returning a punt for a touchdown for the 32-12 final.
- Gianna Marciano led the Viking defense with six stops, while Keiliany Diaz and Ava Fox registered interceptions.
- Six of the seven combined scores came from receptions with Villa's Brianna Shalinsky throwing four TD's in the game.

The Vikings travel to Harford Community College on Thursday, March 26 for a doubleheader. Villa will face host Harford in a NCFFL game at 3 PM, followed by a non-conference rematch with Post University at 4:45 PM.
