BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Villa Maria College women's soccer team hit the turf on Tuesday at Dobson Field. The Vikings battled against Mercyhurst North East and fell by a score of 10-0.
Inside the Matchup –
Villa now holds a record of 0-3 in the 2019 campaign. The Saints move to 4-4 after their victory.
How It Happened –
The Vikings fell behind early in the first half, but they fended off some attacks and contested every shot by the opposition. Some of the top opportunities for Villa came in the first half, with a pair of shots by
Megan Marafino. The first was a rocket from outside the box that the goalkeeper was just able to get too. The next chance came when Marafino dribbled down the right side of the field and took a shot that was slightly wide of the right post.
Jordan Wright continues to battle in goal, collecting 16 saves in the two halves of play. In total, Wright has 44 saves on the season.
