BUFFALO, NY - It wasn't always pretty but the Villa Maria women's basketball team scratched and clawed to it's first Northeastern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (NIAC) Tournament Championship, defeating the SUNY Delhi Broncos 58-43 Saturday afternoon.

Villa, who picked up it's 22nd win of the season, got 16 points, 17 rebounds and six steals from Tournament MVP Nina Cray.  She added two blocks and for the pair of games, scored 36 points, secured 27 rebounds and had 11 steals.  All-Tournament team member Shaquana Owens chipped in 11 points and 10 boards in the final victory.

Up next for Villa is the USCAA National Tournament where they will take on third-seeded University of Maine Augusta at 6 p.m. on Thursday in Uniontown, PA.
