BUFFALO, NY - Senior
Shaquana Owens scored a game-high 21 points to pace a four-pack of Vikings in double-figures as #2 Villa Maria picked up it's fourth straight victory over Erie Community College, 90-72 on Thursday night inside the Burt Flickinger Center.
Villa was playing it's first game since being ranked #2 in the latest United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II National Coaches Poll. Â They forced 32 ECC turnovers which led directly to 39 points. Â Sophomore
Armoni Jordan scored 18 off the bench for the Vikings while juniors
Tekia Gary and
Nina Cray chipped 15 and 12 respectively.
The Vikings shot nearly 48 percent for the game. Â They finished the game with with 19 steals. Â Owens, Gary and junior point guard
Chmicka Kennedy each had four. Â Kennedy finished with a low output offensively, scoring just five points, but she dished out eight helpers and had three rebounds and a block. Â Owens finished one assist shy of another triple-double, ending with 12 rebounds and nine assists to go along with the 21 points.
ECC was paced by Estella Anderson who scored 17 points.  Aisha Shabazz had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
WHAT'S NEXT
Villa hits the road on Friday for a weekend double-header against The King's College on Saturday at 1:45 PM and The College of New Rochelle on Sunday at 1 PM.
