CANTON, NY - Villa Maria College sophomore Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter) once again paced the Lady Vikings, scoring a game-high 30 points, as the seventh-ranked Lady Vikings ended the regular season with a victory, defeating SUNY Canton 92-63 on Saturday afternoon.  It marked the sixth consecutive win for Villa and a 12-3 finish to the season.

Four different players scored in double-figures for Villa as shot 56.8 percent in the first half to help secure an early and commanding lead.  Villa out-scored the Kangaroos 30-13 in the second quarter, leading to a 54-32 advantage at halftime.  Owens scored 21 of her game-high 30 points in the first half while also securing eight rebounds.  She finished with 12 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and three steals.

After Canton held Villa to just 10 third quarter points, getting to within 15, the Lady Vikings doubled-up the Kangaroos 28-14 over the final 10 minutes to put the game away.  Senior guard Jayvonna Kincannon (Buffalo, NY/Genesee Community) scored 18 points, dished out six helpers and came up with five steals, while freshman Armoni Jordan (Lockport, NY/South Park) netted 17.  Junior Dominique Davis (Buffalo, NY/Genesee Community) scored 14.

The Lady Vikings came up with 13 steals and had thre blocks as they shot 50 percent from the field for the game.  Freshman Nyree Brown (Buffalo, NY/Health Science) chipped in four points, five rebounds and two steals while fellow freshman Ashlynn Banks (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter) knocked down her only triple attempt off the bench.

The Lady Vikings finish their regular season 17-8 for the second consecutive season.  Ranked seventh in the latest USCAA National Coaches Poll, and second in the latest edition of the power rankings, Villa is expecting an at-large bid into the National Tournament held in Uniontown, PA during the week of February 27th.
